For security purposes, Clover devices require an 8-digit activation code before they can be used for the first time. This code is unique to each device, and is different from the 4- or 6-digit personal passcode you use to log in to your device.
You’ll be prompted to enter the 8-digit activation code when you set up your device for the first time or after resetting an existing device to factory settings.
Where to find your device activation code
You can find your device activation code in the following locations:

The Clover Web Dashboard: From a browser, log in to your Clover account. The activation code is displayed in a banner across the top of the dashboard home screen. (After the device is activated for the first time, the banner disappears.)

The owner’s email: The business owner receives the activation code via email when a device connects to a network for the first time. (If an existing device requires a factory reset, a new activation code is sent to the owner via email.) The device activation code is also included in the shipping notification email sent to the owner when the Clover device ships.

The owner’s text messages (SMS): If the business owner set up their Clover account prior to device activation, they can opt in to receive the activation code via text message (SMS). If the owner is opted in to this service, their partially masked phone number appears on the screen when prompted to enter the activation code.

To find your Merchant ID (MID):

From a browser, log in to your Clover.com account.

At the top right, do one of the following based on what you see onscreen:

Select Settings
to open the Settings panel; then choose View all settings.
